Ms. Johanna Namene - Research Fellow
Johanna is a scientist, assistant lecturer and research associate in the Department of Physiology, at the University of Namibia (UNAM), School of Medicine. In her current role as an assistant lecturer, she educates health sciences students about metabolic and gastrointestinal physiology, and the importance of nutrition in the health sector and community at large both in the classroom and through research.
Her passion for nutrition, love for children and community service has earned her membership of the Nutrition and Food Security Alliance of Namibia (NAFSAN), an organisation aimed at providing food security and optimal nutrition for all Namibians. She was recently awarded a grant from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to fund her research on malnutrition in Namibian children. She is currently working together with Child Growth Monitor (CGM) Germany and United Nations Children’s Funds (UNICEF) Namibia to test out a new 3D imaging technology for child anthropometry.
